Hove RFC U13's

Welcome to the Hove RFC U13's Website

DSC00068

This website is now the main method of communication and source of information for Hove RFC's U13's.

The age-group has a squad of over 40 players and is one of only two clubs in Sussex to have an A & B team represented in the league. It's a proud achievement representing both our success on the field and policy of being all-inclusive. We aim to make sure everyone, whether they be seasoned players or novices, enjoy good coaching and competitive rugby. We've twice been Sussex Champions but winning is not the be-all-and-end-all of what we do.

THE TEAM MANAGER WRITES....

The Team Manager's Bulletin Board to the right is now your primary reference for the status of matches and training sessions, replacing the call-around done previously. Please refer here if you are in any doubt as to whether the forthcoming match or training session will be taking place.

Saturday 2nd Jan - A BIG MONTH AHEAD!!!!!!!!

It's going to be a very big month of rugby ahead of us.  On the 24th we have an A's league match against Lewes. They've had a poor start to the season but beat Hastings by 17-3 in their last match so are obviously much improved.  This should be considered a good warm up for the following Sunday when we play Worthing. This will undoubtedly be a very tough test. If we win we will go into our last league match against old rivals Horsham knowing that if we beat them we could well be in the League Final in March.  It's all to play for!

On the 24th the B's are up against Hayward's Heath's A team.  They have predictably been by far the strongest team in the B League so this will be a very tough match.  However the B's have proved to be no pushovers by anyone this season so will surely give a good account of themselves no matter what the final score.  The week after will see them play their final league match; the re-arranged fixture against Worthing B.  This should be an easier proposition. Hopefully the B's will end their fantastic season on a high with a good win.

In advance of all these matches we have three weeks of training. This will give us plenty of time to get ready for this crucial part of the season. We expect everyone to attend. Failure to do so will affect selection.

Saturday 28th Nov - THE LEAGUE TABLES

Have a look at the league tables above the bulletin board. You will see that we are currently fourth in both leagues making Hove easily the most successful overall U13's squad in Sussex.  There are a lot of great new players coming through and everyone in the squad is getting lots of competitive rugby.  Well done to all the players, parents, and, of course, the coaches.

Hove As

After some difficult matches in recent weeks, the As returned to winning form with a crushing victory over Crowborough.

Although on form, we were expected to win this match, it was done in great style and Hove dominated nearly every aspect of play so well done done to all involved.

Apparently, their lead coach, after delivering a withering post match rant, stormed off in disgust - always a good sign for the opposition !! 7 unanswered tries and 2 conversions.

Crawley 12 Hove B 5 (Sussex B League West)

In appalling weather conditions at Crawley,  this was another fantastic result against a much improved A team who have had some good results against A league opposition this season.  Crawley had two big strong runners who caused a lot of problems for Hove in the first half eventually scoring twice with one try converted. 12-0 at the break.  Hove always looked threatening with the ball in hand and in the second half really took the fight to Crawley with some aggressive tackling and good support play. Our reward came close to the end with a well worked forward effort resulting in Morgan Griffin crashing over for a well deserved try that was a team effort.  It was a good all round team performance but particular mention must go to George Pickard, the props Jimmy & Artin, Morgan and Ollie Stout who all had strong games. Thanks to everyone for making the effort to get there. Only one no show which was a vast improvement on previous weeks - thanks.
